DeVilbiss iGo2 Portable Concentrator Review

For optimal performance, your body needs a constant flow of oxygen. After listening to your complaints and examining you at the clinic, your physician has discovered that you are not getting sufficient oxygen from ambient air alone. Hence why you have gotten a prescription for supplemental oxygen. On receiving this, your oxygen levels should come up to normal levels. Please be reminded that oxygen, despite being prescribed like a drug is not addictive, but too little or too much of it is not advisable. If you have symptoms like headaches, drowsiness, confusion, exhaustion, or increased irritability whilst on oxygen therapy, please consult your physician again.

The oxygen prescription for each patient is specifically tailored to his or her needs, with the oxygen device’s design and accessories put into full consideration. This prescription like every other long-term condition should be reviewed from time to time, to ensure that the patient is getting the best care possible.

For the first timers, oxygen therapy is provided with oxygen delivery units in the form of portable oxygen concentrators, home oxygen concentrators, or oxygen tanks (although these tanks are not as common as before). This review is about the DeVilbiss iGo2 portable oxygen concentrator. In addition to its near-feather weight and portable design, it is built to deliver reliable oxygen flow as pulse dose oxygen, but unfortunately, it doesn’t offer continuous flow settings. The iGo2 portable oxygen concentrator makes up for this with good battery power, oxygen output, and a fair warranty. You will find more details about its features and benefits below.

Features and Benefits of the DeVilbiss iGo2 Portable Oxygen Concentrator

Special features:

SmartDose Technology: As its name goes, this device can automatically switch or change the oxygen setting to what the user needs. It does this by detecting the user’s breathing rate to give the right amount of oxygen the body requires for that activity, whether at rest or strenuous activity. If one’s breathing rate increases, the oxygen supply increases, and vice versa.

Oxygen sensing device (OSD): All DeVilbiss units have this. It ensures one gets accurate oxygen measurements.

Other features:

Size, Weight, and Design

The DeVilbiss iGo2’s sleek form makes it a portable, lightweight device that consumers will find simple to carry. For this portable oxygen concentrator to withstand the bumps and knocks of regular travel without losing any of its effectiveness, the rubber casing increases the design’s durability.

This portable oxygen concentrator fits snugly into a carry case for simple trips out of the house. It also has room for two additional batteries. It is simple to use as a home oxygen therapy equipment due to its small design and its space-saving design and shape make it almost invisible.

It weighs about 5 pounds and each battery weighs 0.8 pounds. As for its size, it measures 8.4 inches in height, 3.5 inches in width, and 8.6 inches in length.

Battery Life

This is an important factor to consider because every portable oxygen concentrator requires reliable batteries are necessary. For this reason, the DeVilbiss iGo2 has two long-lasting lithium batteries that provide the POC with longer battery life. These powerful lithium batteries can last up to 5 hours and 30 minutes at setting 2. This is impressive!

The portable oxygen concentrator will sound an alert when the battery is running low. Recharging time per battery takes roughly 3 hours. Aside from its batteries, the unit can also be used with an AC power supply or DC power supply. It may be mounted on a car, boat, or recreational vehicle. If per adventure AC power is interrupted, the iGo2 portable oxygen concentrator would automatically fall back to battery operation.

Oxygen Purity

Like most oxygen concentrators, the iGo2 portable oxygen concentrator provides oxygen concentration levels between 87% to 94%.

Flow Settings

The DeVilbiss iGo2 portable oxygen concentrator is designed to provide oxygen in pulses but has no continuous flow setting. It has pulse dose settings from 1 to 5 which can cover most oxygen therapy prescriptions.

Using the DeVilbiss iGo2 portable oxygen concentrator requires no special training session to understand the controls. No “experimentation” is needed at all because your oxygen therapy is what really matters in the end. You will value the straightforward and uncluttered control panel of your DeVilbiss iGo2 portable oxygen concentrator immediately after turning it on.

It features a stunning and simple-to-read LCD screen that will quickly display your current flow rate and battery life. This unit is a fairly quiet one, producing a noise level of just 41 decibels. There would be no worries about distractions or sleep interruptions.

Yes, the iGo2 has a warranty of 5 years, but with a few exceptions: the compressor has a warranty for 3 years, the sieve beds 1 year, one battery 1 year, and the carry case has no warranty at all. I think it is a fair deal, but offers may defer per dealer.

I have the drive unit, it has performed very nice for me. I can barely hear it, but when I wonder if it’s working I simply listen for a second and I hear it click. I am very happy with it.
